NUESTROS PROGRAMAS
We run a year round program and are in session 40 weeks of the year. We take breaks in accordance with the San Mateo-Foster City school district's academic calendar. Our program is divided into two sessions, Fall/Spring session and a summer session.
Corremos un programa de año redondo y estamos en sesión 40 semanas del año. Tomamos vacaciones de acuerdo al calendario del Distrito Escolar de San Mateo/ Foster City. Nuestro programa está divido en dos sesiones, verano/ primavera y verano solamente.
Fall/Spring
Verano/ primavera
This session begins the third week of August and runs through the third week of June. All intersessions and holiday breaks are observed. The program runs Monday and Tuesday from 4:30-7:30, and Wednesday from 4-5:30pm with a meal that begins at 5:30pm. Students work in small groups with tutors in order to complete their homework, projects, and study for tests. Any student who finishes their work before the end of the tutoring continues with math skills building activites.
The Fall/Spring session is for 1st-12th grade
Esta sesión empieza la tercer semana de agosto y termina la tercer semana de junio. Todas las intersesiones y días festivos son observados. El programa es en lunes y martes 4:30 a 7:30, y miércoles de 4:30 a 5:30 con una comida que empieza a las 5:30 pm. Los estudiantes trabajan en grupos pequeños con tutores para completar las tareas, proyectos y estudiar para exámenes. Cualquier estudiante que termine su trabajo antes de finalizar la tutoría, continúa con actividades de desarrollo en matemáticas.
Summer
The summer is a four week math intesnsive. It runs from the last week of June through the third week of July. The program focuses on multiplication fluency. It is the goal of the summer program to get all students to a multiplication fluency of 97% or above. Students who are already fluent in their mulitplication tables are able to succeed in division, percentages, fractions, proportions, equations, and so on.
Students who are already fluent in their multiplication tables already will work with the IronBox curriculum. Students are encouraged to excel as the summer program is catered to their learning style and the speed at which they matriculate through the curriculum.
For three years the summer program as focused on middle school and high school students. During this four week session we will ensure that the students are proficient in single digit addition and subtraction, multi-digit addition and subtraction, and will begin or continue with their mulitplication fluency.
For the 6th- 12th graders, it will run from 4-7pm. The program will take place at St. James A.M.E Zion
